Nagano Prefecture
Based in Nagano, Yumiko Katase works in “mocha ware,” a marbled slip-trailing technique originally developed in South West England in the 18th century. A single drop of dark slip released onto the wet surface spreads into intricate, vein-like patterns as the piece is tilted – no two results are identical. Her tableware is offered in three signature colorways (blue, green/olive, and pink/plum tones).
